Megerdich Mikayelian graduated from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory with a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar.

In 2022, Megerdich Mikayelian was honored and assigned by the World Guitar Organisation as its Official Ambassador in Armenia and Lebanon.

 
Currently, a guitar professor at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of  Music and Coordinator of the classical guitar division at Parsegh Ganatchian College of Music, Megerdich Mikayelian is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the Hamazkayin Guitar Ensemble and the Davigh Orchestra at the Parsegh Ganatchian College of Music. In 2019, Mikayelian also founded the Ararad Quintet.

Mikayelian is the author of the book “Armenian Liturgy and Armenian Songs for Guitar” published by Armenian Catholicossate of Cilicia, in 2002. Mikayelian has performed as a soloist in several countries such as Sweden, Canada,  (Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver) Lebanon, Armenia,  UAE, France, and Greece. He has also given concerts with various ensembles, like the Hamazkayin Madrigal ensemble, performed as a soloist with the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra and Quatuor Rhapsodie in Montreal, Canada, as well as duos with guitar, violin and flute.

In 2006, Mikayelian released his first CD for classical guitar, in collaboration with Hamazkayin and Pomegranate Music.

 
In 2006 and 2007, Mikayelian was given a Certificate of Appreciation by the School of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University for his performances at the Open Door Festivals, and in 2008, he was awarded the Shield of Appreciation during a performance organized by the Armenian Evangelical College. 

He is the coordinator of the classical guitar division of the Parsegh Ganatchian College and the founder, artistic director, and conductor of the Guitar Ensemble and the Davigh Orchestra at Parsegh Ganatchian College of Music. In addition to teaching and performing in concerts, he is also the author of the book “Armenian Liturgy and Armenian Songs for Guitar” published by the Armenian Catholicossate of Cilicia in 2002.

Mikayelian’s second classical album, Kaleidoscope, was recorded in Athens, Greece, and released in 2008, courtesy of Pomegranate Music, USA. 

In 2010, he released a DVD for classical guitar, courtesy of Hamazkayin.

 
In 2011, after his performance in Toronto, Canada, Mikayelian was granted an award of appreciation by the Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Member of Parliament of Scarborough-Agincourt in the House of Commons of Canada. The Hon. Jim Karygiannis gave Mikayelian The Charter of Rights of the Canadian citizen as an award in 2012.

 
Under Mikayelian’s artistic direction and conductorship, the Guitar Ensemble of Parsegh Ganatchian College won the first prize in a TV show in 2013.

 
In 2016, Gitarr och Luta, a renowned Swedish classical guitar magazine published the song Oror, which is transcribed and arranged for classical guitar by Megerdich Mikayelian, along with an article about Mikayelian and the details of his arrangement.

 
In 2020, he released two CDs “ARARAD” and “OROR” under the Patronage of KOHAR.

 
The famous Renaissance Festival held in Gyumri, Armenia invited Mikayelian as a jury member for its guitar competition. There, he gave a guitar master class to the students. 

 
Megerdich Mikayelian was granted an Appreciation Award from the Hamazkayin Cultural Society, as his students won first prize in a guitar competition in Armenia.

 
Mikayelian was also invited by the International Paros Guitar Festival in Greece as a jury member for its guitar competition, where he also presented a master class and a concert.

Mikayelian won the first prize at the International Guitar competition in Yerevan, Armenia, on April 13, 2019, as the artistic director of the Hamazkayin Parsegh Ganatchian Music College Guitar Ensemble, for the string instruments guitar ensemble category. The Ensemble was also invited to the KOHAR Music School, where he gave a master class session to the students.

 
In light of his international achievements, the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music granted Mikayelian a Certificate of Appreciation for his outstanding and significant accomplishments.

The renowned “Gendai Guitar Magazine” Classical Guitar Magazine in Japan published an article about Megerdich Mikayelian together with his musical merits and Armenian musical arrangements in their June and December, 2022 issues.
